I haven't posted in a while, but I am in the process of designing a small scale furnace studio for making marbles and small paperwieghts. I know this forum is primarily for lampworkers, but I was looking to get some insight and ideas from anyone kind enough to give this thread their time. So basically I am making a small studio that I will be using part-time, primarily on the weekends. I am thinking of building a 10' x 12' shed with a poured concrete floor and double doors that open up on either end. I am going to be building my own glory hole. As for the furnace and annealing kiln, I am still on the fence as to wether or not I want to build these or buy them as I am going to have them electric and I am not familiar with elements, wiring etc. I plan on making marbles and paperwieghts with a diameter no larger than 4"-5". The problem I am having is figuring out what size glory to make and what size furnace to build/buy. For the furnace I was thinking of something that could hold a 10-20 lb crucible. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, or has built a small scale studio before I would greatly appreciate any ideas/advice.
