Glass Cost Calculator Program
Hey all,
This is a program I did for my final in one of my Computer Science courses a few years ago. It was written in Visual Basic 6, and I don't think it requires any additional runtime libraries that you need to download (under any flavor of Windows, anyway).
It's basically a really small application that lets you input how much tubing, rod, color, oxygen, etc. you used to make a piece, then you input the time you spent working on it and the asking price, and it works out your hourly wages, both adjusted (asking price - materials cost / time) and non-adjusted (asking price / time), along with an itemized list of materials used.
This program could definately use a revision, which I may get around to if there's any public demand for it. It's a fairly simple little app, but I can see this being expanded and something that more people use. I suppose all I'm getting at here is that I'd like you to download it and give it a try. Please let me know what you think about it - bugs, feature requests, etc.

I've been slacking off with my glassblowing, and I'd really like to get back into it more than I am. Something like this would really help me along with my goal. Thanks in advance.

Re: Glass Cost Calculator Program
There are a couple things I would add.
Input for changing cost of glass rods/tubes, for more or specific diameters of rod/tube, fuel costs, utilities costs, special costs, etc
Printable reports.
Nice app, works great here.

hey this is an awesome idea but how are you adjusting the O2 cost since everyone pays different amounts for their tanks?
great idea though

Re: Glass Cost Calculator Program
As of now, all the costs are hard-coded in. At some point I think I'll go back and re-write this to include a config menu where you can define what costs how much. Oxygen, tubing, rod, color, etc. Also to include all the rod/tube sizes (teeny to f'n huge, standard/med/heavy wall). The printable reports may have to wait, but I could probably make it dump to a text file pretty easily. This sort of application would also lend itself to a web form without too much difficulty; let me flex my muscles in PHP, perhaps...
