An alternative to PappaShop
I've seen quite a few people out there with PappaShop sites. If it works for you, that's great, but my experience with it (having to modify program code) has been less than stellar. Anyway, I've been keeping my eyes on a fairly new company called Shopify. Hit the link and watch the vid on the first page and see what you think. They charge a monthly fee, but it seems fairly reasonable for the kind of product you get.
Just passin' on the good word.
Carry on...

My only problem is your web address is a piece of theirs. Perhaps I didn't see how you could have it directed to your domain?

Re: An alternative to PappaShop
I know I saw something about having your own domain not being a problem... I'll see if I can dig it up.
edit: found it

Re: An alternative to PappaShop
Been searching on Shoppiy for stipulations on items for selling like adult products, or glass pipes and haven't found any. Was wondering if anyone had any dealing with them yet?

Re: An alternative to PappaShop
Currently, I don't think Shopify is a good choice because they take a commission on every sale. However, unlike most places that do that, like Etsy or eBay, Shopify isn't bringing you business. $29 is already pretty expensive; a 2% fee on top of that makes them really expensive, if you sell a lot.
My current choice for a hosted, customizable shop is Big Cartel. It's direct, easy to use, an inexpensive. You can map your own domain to our shop easily. I'm currently working on a customized theme for Big Cartel, and so far think they have a great system.

Re: An alternative to PappaShop
Here is an alternative coffee cup shopping cart creater. Its $50 one time fee and you get a standard hosting plan from go daddy, or someone else. It uses standard payment gateways paypal, autorize, etc. I don't need inventory and it seems all these per month services offer is inventort and reports, I don't have enough volume through my site to care. Coffe cup is simple and I can work on my shopping cart offline and than upload when I am near wifi.
