poop, nothing but poop......

i jumped on the torch last night and well, after nearly a year of not torching, it's like i never did it before... i don't know what i expected but, i didn't expect that i would screw up, as bad as, i did... everything came out like total poop... it was horrible, to feel like i was watching someone else (a nu-bee) work and they wouldn't listen to what i was trying to tell them... all i needed to get done was a slide and a small bat... my friend was happy with her bat but, it was nothing special... i'm glad that i started with it and it turned out, somewhat acceptable to me, as well or, i may have just went postal, buy the end of the night... i knew that my over all skills would drop off a lot, with such a long time off but, i felt like it would come right back, after about an hour or, two... such was not the case... way back in the very beginning of my glass blowing, my pieces were better than anything i did last night...

some points to consider;

-some days just suck. i work every day and i still have days where i can't blow glass for shit.
-your perception affects your experience. sometimes i think i'm doing great and then when i open the kiln i'm bummed to see that i messed up things i didn't realize, or conversely, i thought i was making shite and when i look in the morning it's all better than i thought.
-it's not anything like riding a bike. give yourself a few days to catch back up.

keep at it man, you'll be fine.

i just hope that i can feel the flow again, very soon...
my friend brought me $100 order to fill and
after almost 4 weeks off my regular j.o.b. because
of my broken coccyx (i love that word), i really need
every dime i can make...

I just came off almost 5 years off the torch. The poop WILL go away. Just keep going!

Yeah... you just may have had an off day.

Some day I feel like I've done nothing but fight the glass all day

and others the flow just ya know, flows

I was making a marble or my grandson with his name in it. It was a total disaster. Things just kept going wrong at the end. In trying to fix it, it cracked......too long out of the heat, not paying attention........The force was not not strong with me at that time. That one got me mad and ended up in the water.....the next one came out much better.....the force was strong with me then.
It will come back. Just keep at it. The force is strong in all of us, but there are days when it seems to move around and favor one while the other is weaker. But it comes around again......

I took a month off for my shoulder and everything I made was poop. Not that my work was that tight beforehand but my rotations were off, my heat control was non-existant and the worst part is I had to go through the aching forearms all over again. I couldn't imagine going a year. It should comeback to you though.

I feel your pain.

One time I was showing the missus how to ride a bike, whilst turning my head to explain, I hit the curb edge on a skew and proceeded arse over tit over the handlebars.

Man I had one of those days the other day, fogetting carbs or to flatten the bottom of a spoon, couldnt even make a decent implosion or a pendant hoop for that matter.

But the next day all was good again, just dont give up and clear your head before you light the torch.

Ouch...!!! i've been down there road myself but, i don't think this thing is quite a curb, just a speed bump in the road... it's just a reminder to slow down enough to remember the things that are not so obvious... heat base, garaging, flame environment, ect.... it's not just all fire.... god, i love fire... always have... when i told my mom that i am blowing glass, she asked about how much it cost to run one of those big ass heat box things...lol... i said, "no, not that kind of glass blowing... glass blowing with a torch..." she said, "you finally have the fire that always amazed you..." i still don't know what she's talking about...

and things will always go in cycles...

i have to go sit with my uncle and help him to bed this evening
but, i'll get back about 11pm and i'll get out there 4 some work...

yea I just had a poop fest this morning and am going to make bats only tonight as to insurer a proper days pay. Thank goodness they are needed at store as I only get to make 300 or so a year. I got my assemble line going and can do like 25-50 per hour if I could move 300 a week at same 2buck each I could coast all the time.
Before any one ask the kind with one constriction and polished ends I have a jig made from coat handgers that I can slide ten on and fume ten at a time. And yes I am feel lucky to get 2 but hell they sell them for 5 or 10 bucks a pop and cry the blues paying 2.
