Default Source for these type of rubber bottle stoppers?

Hey, does anyone know a source for the type of rubber stop used on this piece:

The people whose house I saw this at got it as a wedding present, and don't remember who gave it to them, otherwise I'd just try to track down the blower who originally made it.

I've been making them with 10 mil posts and putting them through #2 white gum stoppers (like this: ),
but I think that they big glob of white looks obtrusive and kind of ugly, hence the search for these little black beauties (a bulk supplier is preferred, but even if you just know a place that sells them individually, it would be a good start).

    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks,
    Icarus

I use the #2 black stoppers that look like the white 1's except black.

Really? It doesn't give an off taste to the liquid in the bottle if left in there for a while? I was thinking about using those, but all of the ones I seemed to find weren't food grade rubber, so I wasn't sure about using them. But you've had no problems with them? If so, that would be great.

I haven't noticed a tase but I don't drink wine much either, I'd rather have rubber than chrome in my wine. The 1's at http://www.mcmaster.com/# are food grade, they said.

You can also go to any brewery supply house. They are food grade. I think I was paying like $1 each !

Brewery supply places usually only carry the white gum rubber ones. $1 a piece though, damn, I've been able to find them for 25 cents a piece! But I jsut don't think the white rubber looks as good.

Bringing this back from the dead because I am looking for a good source of these and cannot find one.
Icarus did you ever find one?
Emmett did you say you buy them from the link you posted, because the only ones I found on there only had a 5mm hole?

I've used 1's with a 5 mm hole and I use 6 mm as the post that goes into the stopper, I got mine from a different source and never got around to getting more.

Thanks Emmett for the quick response! I found 8 of the cheap china ones in my shop, and you can just pull the rubber part off of it to make them like Icarus posted at the top of the thread.

That part is called a tube insert. They used are used for situations where you will have a negative pressure inside a tube such as specially cleaned dry pipe. I havent seen rubber ones in a while. They are mostly nylon these days. Most of the pipe companies have gone to using the straight sided rubber ones because they are cheaper. If you look, you can find.

    Example:

Looks like the bottom of a pour spout for liquor. Those were nylon.

I used to get the nylon part in boxes of 100 for $17 or so from Smart and Final or Young's Market (alcohol disributors).

    Maybe BevMo?

    How about Barsupplies.com?

They've got 'em for .75 each, but it has the metal part too. I couldn't find just the nylon part.

I can't say I spent that much time looking though.

P-CML-pk (tapered metal pourer) costs 53 cents, just remove the metal spout.

I've been using the metal ones for a long time now. I found some that had some ugly pressed glass tops that were on clearence at a local discount store. I think they were $1.00 each.

Break off the janky glass, grind it flat, grind a flat spot on the bottom of your mable and use a clear 2 part epoxy. Done! They look very professional with the stainless steel and sell themselves.

Not sure if your still looking but the rubber part can be purchased here for .75 in single quantity. Maybe they'd cut a deal for bulk orders.
