I tell people I melt stuff for fun and profit. It doesn't always avoid the Chihuly conversation (which bores me too) but it gives me the opportunity to say "Oh, no, I do it the hard way - with a torch" which, if not exactly true, firmly distinguishes the difference. Of course then they want pipes, of which I've made exactly 3 that did not end up in the "I made this and only keep it so I can laugh at myself later" box.

I can't even wait to read this shit and I know it's old ass shit but if u work with liquid glass u have to know who Chihuli is (prob spelled wrong tho) rump4skin I'm sure by now u know and respect his work beastmaster u sound like a big fan of his and so am I but, a lot of his fame is just due to his marketing and he is a master of that as well as his glass but he is not the best in my opinion there is always better around the corner.
PS I'm not trying to talk shit on Chihuli cuz shit he is so cool even my iPhone knows how to spell his name.(-:
