hey, im now an scientific glassblower aprentice since august the first in a german school, last week the roor crew and eusheen were there to have a look at the school, if youre interested id love to make some pics and post from time to time about what i am doing at the moment, right now i am joining tubes mostly 1.5mm thick and with a diameter af 12 or 15mm, you get grades on that , like how good the joint is....., i have 20 hrs a week in the shop and the other time its technical drawing and other stuff in a classroom

tomorrow i am going to ask about shop time for myself cause the school is 480 km away from my girlfriend and little daughter and my little garage studio with my torch and kiln.... so i can make sections under the week for example and assemble them saturday night at home, i am driving home every friday and i have a small apartment near the school

    kind regards frank

hey here are some pics i made today, i hope you like them

    the school building

the workshop/studio,1st floor ist the shop where i am working on the second is only flatglass

    hand torch

"thüringer" torch with metal assembly for coiling tubes

"flöte" - flute , we use it for bending tubes, many little holes make a 1,50 meter wide flame, there is a stopper atr the end so you can adjust the wide of the flame, from ca 1,50m to ca 10cm

the ground joint machine - we can/must make our groundjoints ourselfes on this crazy machine, its like playing piano while driving a motorcycle at the same time

    wet belt sander

grinding machine to grind the ground joints

also a grinding machine at the moment, or a drill

    wet buzz saw

    lathe equipped with a herbie

smaller lathe also with a herbie

    small old crazy kiln

big new crazy kiln and the "Meister"

my workbench, i do not work there all the time i am sharing it with another student when i am in another class, we all have herbies with footpedals running on natural gas, compressed air and oxigen, hardlines all the way to every torch in the shop, and a powerfull vent system

stuff we get grades on for example

i hope you liked the pics, ill see that i can make a little vid from every machine when im working on it

    kind regards frank
