It gets kinda lonely being a hermit, and I'm figuring my shopmates wouldn't be bugging me to ask me what's for dinner.
mines seams like a 30min commute to my bench some days... and its in the room next door.

i have 3 old dogs and two hyper puppies

it is lonely being a hermit. but dont think your shopmates wont bug you with whats for dinner ... mine always did lol

I like working at home. This way I get more work done. I have tried both a home studio and a commercial studio.

I also like using oxygen condensers now for my O2. It is a lot easier than using tanks.

    nice!

i've got an hour long bus ride 10 miles, then a 10 mile car ride after i get picked up. about an hour and a half each way depending on traffic, but the night buses are a little slower coming home.

i love it though, wouldn't trade it for a home studio for anything. i've gotta keep my "work" and home life separate, otherwise every time I got frustrated i'd probably just go do.. something else. Too many distractions. The ride there's a good amount of time to get in the right mindset too.

This is a hobby for me, so i know if i had to drive 10 minutes to get to a shop that I had space at I'd probably get on the torch half as much, I usually only get 3 hours or so on the torch at a time so I'm happy the wife has allowed me to take over half the basement for my "studio"

yes that was relevant to this thread.
your words of wisdom always have a way of sinking in.

i bet alot of people will start to use the o2 condensers now that you recomended it.

thanks bro, ima look into one of those too.

oh, and as for this thread. i work in a shop behind my house for 15 years now and i love it.
i do however long for some collabs in the shop as knoxvegas has very little to offer in the way of glassblowers.

i work alot, too much at times.

work is good for the mind, body and soul... get to work you slackers.

WOw.. so many home studio peeps.

Regular hours (or as regular as possible) are the best way to keep it going. I'm usually on the torch by 9am everyday. Ok, I did have band practice late last night so I'll be n the torch by 10:30 today...but when you work 7 days a week you need breaks here and there.

Plus the bonus of a home shop....is it break time? well... I can clean the kitchen, walk the dog to the bank, and eat lunch etc. etc. and then just go back to work.

I get really tired of hanging out with myself since I'm not that interesting...but that's why we have friends.

    My EXACT boat. Damn jello!

I need to find some shop space somewhere soon. I think it would kick my motivation up a notch.

i dunno, i usually am out almost every day at 6 am for a 2 hour shift, and often the last shift of the night ends at 10:30, or 11, like tonight, and my shop is a 60 foot walk. i dont think the distance to your shop is a primary factor in how much work one will do..
    you will shank me later

I work from home, and travel to the studio 20 miles each way. Rough drive in the winter when it's snowing.
