Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
MattyJ here in Boston. I ran a smoke shop in Boston for six years, then quit my job to finish college and learn how to make what I'd been selling for so long. I kinda had a six year apprenticeship without even working with glass cause I kept asking blowers how the heck they did what they did. I sure wish I could make even half of what I think I know how to do happen in glass.

currently riding my bike 10 miles to Goshen to melt then 10 back. just got a place with a sturdy outbuilding that's partly built into a hill and is surrounded by big trees.
helped run a shop for 7 years, but only played with fire for a month or so at the beginning. been on the torch for 2 1/2 months now and it's already my income stream.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello all.
I stumbled across this forum when looking at GP.org today. I don't blow glass, but I love collecting it. I've been reading through these forums for a few hours looking at all the amazing work posted here and trying to learn a few things about how the glass I love is made.
Keep up the good work everyone, I can't wait to see and learn more here.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
I just noticed this thread. I am a new glass blower and love blowing glass so far. I have a redmax torch and everyday i wake up excited to work on my skills. I am blowing pretty much full time and hope to progess to a level on par with many of the amazing artists on this site. Without the inspiration from all the pictures I've looked at I would never have considered stepping in behind a torch. So, thanks to all of you who help each other out and keep the inspiration going to further progress in glass blowing and to keep it going through generations.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hey everyone. Im Jennifer from Fort Worth, Texas. I have been working on a torch for five years. Dabbling with hotglass (when the oportunities arrise) since 1990. I mostly work with soft glass, but have been known to melt a stick of GA or puff some air through a tube of pyrex (or through a blow pipe at my sister's Southern Wisconsin Glass Studio) Not as pretty as my Morreti stuff..... I am a part time glass worker due to a regular job 40 hours a week. My specialties are Fish, Hollow Hearts and Torsos. Im going to be a Bead Maker and a Snowboard Instructor when I grow up!

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Aymie...artist/mom/housewife...26. Learned from a guy who lived in a bus and he tried to take all my money and work me like a slave. I have been at the torch for five years with a two year break for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Glassblowers in Austin are all haters. They all talk shit about each other and no one wants to share theitr knowledge without raping you. You guys rock!
