I got my homefill and sweet custom whip in today. Ran a pressure test and leak check. Everything worked out great and I'm pretty happy about the transaction I had with you boston.

    Thanks again.

Hey All, Just wanted to check in here and tell everyone that I did get My homefill and whip from Boston about a week ago. The transaction went great, he was very quick to get it shipped out to me and It came in great condition.
After a quick call to Boston I powered it all up and made sure that everything worked. I do not have to fill my tank yet. I do not spend a lot of time at my torch.
When I do I will post up some fill times.

I have a airsep oxycon. I just wanted to let all know that the lowest that you can have your flow set at is right around 2.5 I tried less and the homefill will not stay filling. But does work fine at 2.5

Thanks again Boston for a great transaction and unit!

What is the electrical costs and maintenance costs with it? I use about one T size tank every two days of working and work 5 to 6 days a week. $800 would be easy to come up with figuring i am already spending 40 a mo on rent and $100 every two weeks! Let me know because i am interested!
    Thanks!

Also since i live in Wisconsin it gets damn cold. I have my cylinders in the garage unheated and that would be where i fill them. Is this a problem? Would love to free myself from AirGas & their corporate takeover of the welding supply industry!

I posted above about the electrical cost. I use about 12 bucks per month but I only use about half the oxygen you use. That is also at .143 per kilowatt hour. I think this might fall a bit short of your need but it will certainly save you money and time. Homefill and invacare oxygen concentrator use about 400-500 watts. If ran mine for 30days straight it would cost under 50 bucks.

Owners manual says to fill in 50-95 degrees. Its about 50 where I fill my tanks right now. I wouldn't fill them where its too cold.

One of the best things about this system is in the name. Home fill. You don't have to drag a T tank to air gas.

The $800 gets you a homefill, whip, power cord, and hose. You need to get your own oxycon. They can be had relatively cheaply anywhere from 150-500.
This unit saves me personally tons of cash and time going to the welding shop. I would never look back.

That is awesome! if anything fill a tank constanty while working andy have a spare from airgas just in case. Could always drag a tank into the basement since i dont have to drive it to the welding shop! If necessary buy two eventually. Thanks for the info i willhave to research oxycon tho.

Oxycons are pretty cheap. If you are buying for use with the homefill I would get a platinum xl or perfecto II. They are both the 5lpm version are fine for this. Homefills are made to interface. the cord from the homefill snaps into a port in the bottom of the concentrator. Easy as that. Also, these use very little power.

I just got my homefill. Same day ship, 3 days later it's at my studio... Thanks Anthony! Quickly, has anyone used an airsep to feed 02 to the homefill? I found an Airsep Newlife Elite Concentrator locally and was wondering if anyone has checked for compatibility?

I just posted about my airsep a few post before yours! I have the same homefill from Boston.
Seems to work fine,I haven't done a complete fill yet but all that needs to be done is take off the fitting and use a hose barb from the airseps oxygen outlet. keep the flow meter at 2.5
    Hope this helps.

I have recieved many private messages about these units for $800. I am trying my hardest to keep the price at $800. I am currently sold out of those units. I am getting more in soon. I have other units that are $1,200 with a whip including shipping. These units are very low hour units and include a warranty of either 60 or two month PM me for details on these.

I ended up getting a platinum 5. It's running smooth as butter. I filled a tank and am working on the second. I have 5 k tanks and should be set for my weeks needs by the end of the weekend... Man, I have dreamed of not having to deal with airgas anymore!

BTW, don't know if you're still following this thread Ezra, but I remember your work. I wondered if you were still in the industry. Most of us late 90's and earlier guys either went deep underground after "pipe dreams," left the industry, or moved on to other applications. I quit making pipes for a while and concentrated on other art glass. I don't hang out on the forums much, just really jumped in when I heard about the homefills... Anyway, good luck to ya man!

Again, thanks Anthony for the homefill!

I'm trying to figure out the cost effectiveness of this. If I get a OX300 at $22 would it be cheaper in the long run to get one of these? Airgas is literally 3 miles from my shop? But I lease the tanks too so IDK. I do own a OX200 or 250 I can't remember. I've read threw the thread but what does it basically come out to per tank to fill after the $800 investment, If that makes any sense. Basically after 30-40 tanks I would have paid for my investment not including the lease fees they charge me. But on the tank I do own the OX200 or whatever it is that one would be free. If anyone understand what i'm trying to say please pm or post here to help me understand the cost effectiveness of this device. I'm just now getting back into glass and have the time and $1000s of worth of materials just waiting to be used. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    lee

lee my system takes about 30 hours to go from nothing to 1400-1500 psi. and a very long time to fill up to 2000 so it seems the general is that we all shut down around 1500.

you need to determine how many k's a week you use and then its a pretty cut and dry formula based on your kilowatt rates in your town.

mutilpy the kilowatt rate by the hours it take to fill (approx 30) then mutiply that number by the number of k's you use a month and this should be a pretty close estimate of the money it cost to use.

The most I have ever got out of a homefill from an empty bottle is about 1500psi in 24 hours with a modified oxy con in a K tank. GWS pretty much nailed it as far as time goes on average. Most pay for themselves in 3-4 months. The oxy con is another $200 to $500.

I figure $2 to $3 a tank in power, and then add in depretiation of the homefill.
