lol ill send you a wrap and rake blankyou run with it
Ok, so lets do this thing-- I start a piece and put it in a box with some cool prep or whatever, and then send it to the next person who adds to the piece and puts in some color or prep or whatever, and sends it to the next person who works the prep and adds to the piece and/or fixes the Janky bit so and so added until it has 30 collaborators and weighs 20 pounds and finally ends up at somebodys retail shop and is auctioned off with the proceeds going to this site?
now if that sounds fun somebody work out how to start.Conspirators prepare.
lol ill send you a wrap and rake blankyou run with it
send it to me, I'd like it early in the game tho...as I am noided about mailing pipes.
@B.RY_glass
I'd be willing to donate a marble or two and a section if I can remember how to blow glass.
sounds fun...im down...send it to me whenever, and tell me who i send it to after...pm me when ur ready for my address...

i dunno about this tho you know its gonna wind up cracking getting shipped around and maybe? getting kneeled right at every stop? what if everyone made a section/marble/millie to send it then have someone put it together at once?
..just go with the flow...it will be fine if people make nice attachments...and package carefully...if it cracks it cracks...its up 2 u how much work you wanna do to it...dunno if it really needs to be 20 lbs but...who am i to say...all i can add is i only have a aim99 so i cant get it when its to big...everyone should post a pic of how it was when they got it...and how it was when it left there house...if it breaks in shipping...the post office owes us $$$$ muhahahahhhahah![]()

Adam, this is an awesome idea. Unfortunately these things never make it past a long drama filled thread. I’d be more than happy to handle this, and I’ll even start it out.
Here’s what I’ll do:
I will decorate 4 points and put them in a box. I will then send it to the first person on the list. They can do something to it, and send it to the next person, etc.
If you want to take part in this, please send me your info (name, address, telephone number) to info@glass123.com. When you’re done working on your part of the project, contact me for the next person to send it to… I’ll act as the “hub”.
Each participant will assume responsibility for shipping costs… it’s your part of the donation.
I will also include a notebook with some of my “instructions” or ideas, and each person will do the same… kind of like a diary / scrapbook for the life of the pipe (with autographs + whatever)
Sound good? I hope you don’t mind me taking charge.
Tom
P.S.- What would be the best shop to sell it at?
I say we all just send our chit to wonka world....... Then it can be assembled by a team of more than capable glassblowers at agi. Also less likely for sections to break while making the round trip around the continent as they'll only travel through the mail to one destination instead of 50-100.

Bomb, that's an awesome idea! This way people can be a part of AGI even if they can't attend. The only problem is that we have to come up with a color scheme so it doesn't look like a piece of shit Frankenpipe.
Let's stay with basic colors...red and blue (ruby and cobalt)... which are traditionally the best sellers, and it's s staple color we all have.
Done deal?
My thoughts exactly Tom, because of my brewing scedule I am never able to commit to agi even tho it's so close to me. Maybe this year I could pop in for a day and say hello to everyone and donate a couple barrels o southern tier. I'm totally down for this idea. It would also eliminate people flaking and holding the box for 2 months.
What? Glass blowers flaking out? You’re just pulling my chain
Okay, everyone can send their pieces to the address below, and it will be assembled at AGI. Please post a photo of your contribution so we can see before, during, and after pictures.

I'm down to contribute, but I'm not so skilled as to make or break a design. I am proud of my honeycombs, so I can probably toss in a mib or two or something. But I'm unclear on the process here. So will there be one piece being shipped around and being added to and then finished at AGI? Or are all the components going to be mailed to one spot and then assembled completely at AGI? Either way, it sounds like a bomb idea and I'd be thrilled to toss a coin into this well.
There were a few attempts at this on here before. I think one time it worked and one time it didnt.
That being said perhaps there should be a group design session on the forum where perhaps some sketches are done and one trustworthy person with enough spare time to do is assigned to receive all the pieces and assemble.
This is why I suggested we just send our items to Tom. It'll get done at agi and be done right. There'll be plenty of kiln space, plenty of time, and plenty of peeps on hand to handle any issues that may arise during the assembly. No excuses........ I followed the other collab thread that went down the toilet.
Well this has taken an interesting turn... Hmmmm.....
Yes sir, I like it!
Tom, how would you feel about adding some black accents to the blue and red? I totally agree the color scheme should be kept simple, but black looks good with everything, after all. Could help tie varying patterns and styles together nicely. Just as long as it's not the evil CHINESE black.
Edit: Actually it might be wise to leave out the chinese cobalt, too, come to think of it... its a little better than the black but none of that cheap shit is really trustworthy. There's no shortage of good cobalts out there, and why wouldn't we want to support our great American color companies who do it so much better?

I have the strange feeling that I've forgotten all of this before.
Ha...nice work Tom. My first thought was good effin luck.
Corrine and I took a year each to complete our parts of our attempt at this. I left the box at Christina Cody's house in January of 2011. It was an awesome amber purple lady torso and ap honeycomb shield with an opal in it. I should send her a text about that.
Sending it around and letting it be built as it goes is a fucking phenomenal idea. But unless you have a committed group of close friends, it's really hard to pull it off. Sending everything to Tom and having it built at Agi is a super idea. It can get added to there as well.
And on that note, I think those of us who can't make Agi should all send you something...yall make something with it...and don't let anyone who sent the stuff see it until the next time they come. It's like holding a baby for ransom.
Aymie
love the idea of doing it at agi.
tom if we are coming can we just bring parts or do you want everything in advance to plan it out ahead of time?
i hope to be part of the build as well since i will have a torching station.
this is gonna be cool as could be now. i was mighty skeptical about the sneding it out but now i am sure it will be a monumental piece that will get done.
This sounds really cool. I already have my ticket for AGI but it's a B ticket.
Mr. Wonka are you sure there isn't one more bench? ;P I know they are gone but i gotta try. Maybe someone cancels? I'm bringing my torch and tools just in case!
Anyway i would be glad to help out at AGI as an extra set of hands and would love to contribute something glass as well.
Cool idea guys and gals!
