I don't find that shade 3s are enough protection for much of anything. Maybe if you're sticking to items under an inch in diameter... If your workspace is too dark, I suggest to get more lighting.

i have a pair of 3's and 5's. The 3's scare me that i'm not gettin the protection i need.. All i use is one shop light with 2 daylight full spectrum bulbs.

    So, what are 386's?

    Are they 3's?

I had Phillips shade 5's and I used to peek over the top because they were too dark. But then I ditched them because of nose pad meltdowns.

I bought a pair of Aura Lens 386's and I haven't even once had a complaint about them. I got them through Glasscraft about 5 years ago. Downtown frames.

I'll pass on having bleacher lights above my table 8) I have some good light but still .... 5's are much to dark vs the 3's and everything I've read leads me to believe my eyes would be safe as I don't do HUGE very often.
