OK, so here is the deal. Slyme was based on the Kiwi Blizzard recipe, and we originally called it Kiwi Slyme. Some places still use that designation, though we have shortened it to Slyme here at TAG. So, Kiwi Slyme is Slyme. But Kiwi is opague, and is no longer a blizzard color now that we smoothed it out.

In the beginning of Slyme, we got lots of densities and Paul likes to mess around with a formula until he's happy - or we get enough feedback to hear what people want the most. And at that time we used numbers to keep it straight in-house. So, Slyme 1 was the most transparent, and we never really get that anymore. Slyme 2 is translucent - and is what we make most of the time now as regular "Slyme." Slyme 3 was denser, and now that some people have asked for it denser again, we are making some Slyme 3 again, and you can request that at the factory. This is a better choice for using in vac stacks or other places where you're going to thin it out. Slyme 4 was the most opaque, and it's closest to what Amie and I call "Sliwi" - almost as opaque as Kiwi but still Slymey, and from the Slyme recipe.

Confused yet? There are reasons it's so complicated to make color.

And now that we have been making it more, Paul is brewing up a new Slyme flavor. Satin Slyme. It is a dense variety that gets this cool shimmer in it, and once we get a few more test pieces I will get some photos. But it passes all our regular testing, so it's available.

    FWIW.

I actually have a tube of slyme that has streaks running the whole length of the tube that are really satiny looking. It's pretty cool stuff!

Mmmmmmm, satin slyme. That sounds very badass. I'll second the call for 3rd party testers. I'd be very happy to run a pound of that through all the different techs I use on a regular basis.

I actually just got my first 3 pounds of slyme from Mountain Glass. So far, I'm finding it to be a lot more transparent than the way it looks in many peoples finished pieces.

Here's what they tell me in our shop: To keep your regular Slyme looking more opaque, use a bushier slightly reducing flame. This also helps prevent boil. Then you can make it more translucent with more direct heat.

Of course, you could also get some of the denser Slyme 3, we make that for those of you who don't want so much translucence. We went ahead and shipped dense Slyme 3 to some of our distributors in March, so maybe you saw pieces made with that?

Was that one of the denser Slyme 3 tubes? I know Paul was messing with both of these variations in March, maybe yours is a mix, lol!

yup i got some of that slyme 3 i think from mountain glass, shit was the fire, you crack your case open and you can see the slyme almost glowing in the dark! But certain apps it would look weird and you could see very white sections between coilpot sections. I need both phenotypes!
