Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hey everyone
I'm pretty new to glass, only been on the torch for something like 10 months and I don't get nearly as much time as I should be gettin, I got to work on that but it's been so damn hot out it's hard.
Anyway I'd like to meet as many of you as possable, probably going to try and make it out to AGI next year if possable.
So I'm planning on moving to Michigan soon, kalamazoo area, but some time after that I plan on taking a trip across the country from MI all the way down to New Mexico and probably southern cali.
Plan on hittin up Colorado and probably makin some other stops along the way if anyone is down to have me by let me know.
Thanks, guys you have taught me alot already

Hi! My name is Donna and I am definitely new to lampworking. I am an old hand at stained glass as I had my own business years ago, but have always been interested in flameworking with glass. I am looking forward to meeting like minded people here and to learning everything I possibly can.

Don 'Chile' Ortega. Owner of This Place Blows Studios. Been around awhile. 12 years or so...Started at Jerome Baker, moved on to Trident Glass after OPD. Got out of the game for a few years. Started my studio about 4 years ago in Portland, OR. Half-assed my way through glass and construction for three years. Last August, I pulled my head out of my ass, and went back to functional art full time. Every day is a learning experience, and I am loving every minute of it. Good to be here.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
My name Alvin Olmos. I have been on and off the torch for about two years now, probably only 40-50 hours behind a torch. No real classes taken besides when I first started, I was taught how to make a mushroom implosion pendant. Ever since then it's been all hands on experience experimenting with certain techniques learned from watching YouTube videos on lampworking. It took me a while to save up but I was finally able to buy myself a nice kit with a national 6b and a bunch of tools to get me started but i still needed a kiln. So after saving for a couple months and i bought a small paragon kiln which has been working great for me so far. I never wanna stop working behind the torch. I have been dreaming of becoming a glassblower for almost 2 decades since I picked up my first glass pipe and even today I still dream about being behind the torch almost every day and it sucks because I live in the middle of nowhere and supplies are very hard to get ahold of. But that's not gonna stop me whenever I have the chance to get behind the torch I do, even if it's just making a couple dabbers or pendants. Well enough rambling from me. I just wanna say thank you for such an awesome website.

Hey, shops back up & running in central PA. First flame since 1999 in NorCal, had a shop in Eureka, put it down back when fume & turbo cobalt inside was king. Feels like a brave new scientific world we're in now... Getting old sucks.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi folks....it's been forever yet it seems like only just a moment ago......
My name's Bea, SimplyBea on the web and I just love melting glass.
I started with soft glass about 10 years ago but it has been mainly dabble time to de-stress, now I have just gotten hooked on boro and am just LOVING the ability to do small sculptural pieces with losing the blob of glass and/or cracking it!!!
Still just hobbyist but one day.....I might be able to leave the job that pays for the glass I so love melting!!!
