Nice. How long so far? Keep it up!

Here's a tip..move farther out in the flame to avoid those bubbles.

Thanks!! I'm finding that sharp edges on my scored clears are bringing me bubble trubble as well.. I've been watching a friend for about 30 hours.. I've had about the same amount of time behind it doing his shop work like welds and splices and cleaning up dirty rods and things. Started making my own stuff about a month ago, but I only get to burn twice a week for a couple of hours at a time. My torch is on the way, just need a new place to burn!!

Shop work today... Had a chance to sneak off and make a tube implosion practice marble.. Can't wait to get more time behind the torch!

    Thanks everyone!

    Looking good man!

I highly recommend checking out Cosmo Glassworks books. You buy them in digital PDF off his site here http://www.cosmoglassworks.com/index.php/books

Cosmo covers a lot of different techniques(implosion, silver and gold fume, etc, etc) with pendants including different loops and marbles.

Very reasonably priced for what you get

Aha! Good lookin' out thanks! When I buy materials like that, I have to hide them from the shop master. Caught so much shit when he found my Ron bearers tutorial. What's wrong with studying up??? 😔

Forgot to leave out my just in case I burn the shit out of myself room temp water.

Grabbed this water bottle and jamming it into my thumb seemed to work wonders.

    Improvised burn unit FTW!

I think he feels more rewarded when he figures it out for himself. He is also very worried about 'copying?' Someone else's work this late in the game. He wants to make something that is completely his own and feels you won't accomplish that using tutorials and YouTube. Obviously I disagree, but I can safely say I wouldn't be doing anything without him or his extremely valuable guidance. I get to learn from his years of mistakes without making them myself.

I ordered some GLO powder out of curiosity. Does anyone have anything cool they have made with GLO powder or rods? I found this..

    http://dj-hash.com/xavier/slp.JPG

Any tips for the powder? I'm pretty much sticking to clear right now while I practice, but this stuff is super cool for us 3 year olds to ogle over 🙊

    Thanks!

Close off a 25x4 tube and blow thin walls on big chunk. Fill with glo Powder and Melt into solid rod. BAM! Stripe down tube and Enjoy!
Main thing to remember is Glo Powder will burn out on you and lose its Glow which is why you need to encase it. Try to keep as cool as possible, a lot of Oxy!

I believe that work you posted above is HMKs work and he could answer some question although It didn't look like Glo Powder to me.

He said he used some glow tubing that someone made him. And thanks that's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I didn't know you could burn the coolness out of it 😜

Thanks so much! If you or anyone has any pics of anything you've made, feel free to share. Doesn't look like I'll be using this anytime soon @ $120/lb!

Sounds like your shop owner needs to open his mind a bit. I don't know about him, but being able to watch and listen to Loren Stump work for 2 hours for free... is priceless.

Agreed. I'm working on him. Hopefully he will realize it soon. He is getting stuck on steps he should have mastered by now because he won't accept any help or advice. Trying to be a trailblazer. Idk.. Nonsense to me.
