Misha, are you aware the string Barry just got his name changed to also means Daedalus, and is still very likely a passive aggressive attack against Icky?

I'd also point out my opinion that allowing such usernames (this case, apparently ancient greek) makes it somewhat difficult to work within the paradigm of an english message board - but that's just my opinion. If everyone had a username that was so unrecognizable, it would be an unusable system. (See: kant.)

When I google δαιδάλλω I get "to work artfully" but nothing about Daedalus, so it's very unlikely anyone would relate it to Icarus. When you google "δαιδάλλω wiki" however, you do get the entry on Daedalus, which I wasn't aware of until you just pointed it out on the wiki. Thanks. (and sorry, Icky.)

I'd like to veto this name based on my annoyance alone of having to copy and paste it to have to look up a user in my system. Sorry, Barry. pick another.

I knew that's what this would turn into. So if your name change request isn't a shot at Icky, what is it? Tell us what the name means to you and why you want us to refer to you as Daedalus after all this time as BA?

If you're looking for a greek mythology names that represents you as a craftsperson, or master craftsman and architect as Daedalus was, perhaps consider Hephaestus.

That might actually be more in tune with what you're looking for, isn't taken, and isn't subtly tying your name to mine (no matter what your intentions might be by that).

It's ironic at best.

Daedalus was a wise Labyrinth builder, who was locked up so he wouldn't reveal the way out of the labyrinth. I feel that glass has sort of a secret society to it, like the free masons. I think it is a cool name.

Why is it ok for another member to have this name? Are they being judged?

i didn't say i was doing it for that reason either, i didn't even acknowledge it, because it wasn't true, and i didn't want to get into this.
