Made my first mini tube rig thing. Its pretty ugly but I'm proud of it since it functions. It's got a 3 hole diffy. Still trying to figure out the best way to drop these downstems straight without ruining the sidewall. Im not using round bottoms instead of the straight hole so I cant use a 4mm to guide it.. The can was going to be a bubbler, but I decided to make it into this haha, it could have been a little wider, but it stands surprisingly sturdy. Its 8 inches tall, with a 14mm female joint I made with an old quartz nail and a bunch of wax.

My welds really need work, especially one ones around the downstem. Any tips on these? I gotta get myself a hand torch..

    sick fades james =o

herb i'm no epxpzert, but the books i've got suggest supporting an inside seal like that with asbestos tape (i've used cardboard rounds..), tagging it to the inside so it's connected, then popping the hole in the outer tube so it just kind of naturally seals nicely. this also allows you to make a sexy down tube instead of trying to fuck with it after it's sealed up inside.

when i do this, it's with the bottom of the outer tube open, i'll plug it when i blow the seal, then after the outer stem hole is popped i'll pull the cardboard and close up the outer tube bottom, plugging the downstem hole with an earplug (or if it's hot, my bowl push).

here's something similar, a prototype i've been working on for a "stupid bong" series i've been feeding a friend of mine for a couple of years, because he likes stupid bongs..

the stage below the bowl is a typical downstem but the second stage is the side seal. i wish i had better pics, but this one is gone now =/

I definitely dont follow, but im probably doing them completely wrong anyways haha. I gotta do some research. That "stupid bong" bub is awesome, reminds me on the recycler-locks J. Lee was doing recently.

then you add your whatever like a regular T-seal, and anneal the fuck out of it, and never heat it up again, for any reason, or god help you. glass is really unhappy when you do stuff like this. =p

And yes that mold has seen better days, but it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

^^ that's great! i've got this friend who's neighbor is a raging alcoholic, and smokes out of a crushed can. won't even buy a $20 import pipe. so what i'm going to do is take a blue beer bottle (i don't recall which brand has blue glass bottles), preheat in the kiln, punty up with boro, attach boro blow tube, pop a hole make the bowl, pop the carb and then use grabbers to remove all traces of the punty/tube/handle glass and give it to him. i think he'd appreciate it, but idk how well bottle glass will hold up to heat when being used.
