You may as well drill and port it for a vacuum like a big Stump sucker.
Maybe add a handle for easy pre heating in the kiln. port the suction through the handle.

Looks like a damn fine tool as is but could be improved.

Make the handle with a pipe with a hose nipple on it. Not sure if there is enough meat on the bone.

On a stump sucker there is a thin bottom disk with holes to distribute the vacuum across the whole bottom.

I have ben wanting to make 44 mm frit pucks and I bet something like this would work good
