A blank is used in the scientific glassblowing industry to refer to a vessel that, instead of a finished ground-glass joint, only has a raw tube for a neck (or necks, depending on how many the finished vessel will contain).  They are generally available for substantially cheaper than finished flasks and reactors, but are arguably less useful to the general public.
