Man love the Jabba, and the orb entity. Here are some pics from my first attempt at a carved minitube. Technically the 2nd or 3rd minitube ever that came out without any cracking or joint issues... BTW I used a removable drop stem, 14mm male to 10 female... with the hand formed joint only a few of them would fit properly, many were lose and when comparing them the taper and lengths were all off by a mm or two... Only 2 of the 5 of 8 I had fit the same. I am going to have to start comparing drop stems to the male joints I use to finish the sizing... AAAAAnd/or just make fixed stems... but I like removable ones...doh Next one I will have to go thicker and use various layers of clear to get a depth I am looking for. Not terrible for a first one eh? I forgot to sign it though whooops.
After I started carving I think I have finally become proud of my work, even with the refinements that will be required, it is nice to feel good about your work regardless if its moving or not.
Nice job man I really am enjoying your carving!

Probably the last piece out of the kiln before I start breaking down the studio. My nicest cup yet. Holds 12oz.

beautiful Misha - how many sections is that piece. looks like 5-6 anyway.
Looks o.g. Rain to me..
Was that a colab? I would rep you if I could.
Misha is one of my favorite pipe makers.

That's the kinda stuff that inspired me from the beginning!
Thanks guys. I think it's about 13 sections or so plus decorations. My sweetheart helped me on it so it's a collab. He made the lined tube for me to do the reversals with, he made the color tube, and we tag teamed assembly. I did all the stacking of parts, shaping, detail and the decorations, which is why it looks og ER. It's really awesome having someone capable to work with again. This is the stuff dreams are made of.

Lookin killer Misha! Just stick with it & you'll get the hang of this glass thing in no time....
Hey Misha you every find a pic of that piece from like 10 years ago w/ the trip amb purple horns? Still one of my all time favs! Ive been looking for the piece I did that was 100% inspired by it.
I'm way overdue for my first glass pic post anyhow, I'll get something up tonight.
Thanks Mike. Not sure which piece you mean for sure, maybe this one?

Looking forward to seeing more glass by you! :D

That is absolutely amazing, not the one what I had in mind but dam non the less. Killer!
Well seeing as how I should've posted a decade ago, these are from 09-10.
Not fresh from the kiln by any means but....

Anyone doing or see this insanely easy style? Can prep a ton of glass faster than wrap & rake.
I littered all the local shops with these for a long time
Thanks. I'll breakdown how it's done soon. Just curious if anyone else was doing these. Been awhile since I've been on & may have missed 50 posts on it. No idea. But yea, it is very fast. I went side by side with a much better blower than me & won the prep race for production.
very nice work, mike :)
ill try again later tyrying to post my pics is driving me crazy... didn't mean to post this i tried to cancel it and i cant figure out how to delete it my bad.
ok i guess one pic worked. so anyway i frag grenaded a good sized section of wig wagged tubing and i didn't wanna throw the shards away so i flattened the shards into tiles with my hand torch and a paddle. then i coated a piece of 25 x 4 with the pieces and tried to get the lines to not match up on purpose. i think it came out good ill take a pic when its actually fresh from the kiln. sorry for my computer unsavvyness lol.
That's awesome, Ive tried doing that on purpose. Only thing I could add to that is cover the seams in clear. Kinda preheat & follow with a clear rod to work the air out of the seam & cover so I/O work doesn't reduce on the surface.

I like how it came out. A few spots boiled but it worked. Im not sure if the reball was gonna look that great anyway, this might have turned out better after all lol.
Thats awesome nice work
I don't get much glass time anymore but when I dohttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...34e9e851e2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0f3ec9af84.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cf87d132fe.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0bd5b73146.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7ebd797fa7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...62794eb07f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8d644a6cc6.jpg

It's been a long time since I've made anything other than a simple bong slide or dabber. The skills fade quickly. Just don't melt in the summer heat. It was cool this morning so I coated 20 mm in cobalt. Then lined it with a bunch of colors and twisted the cane. It's almost a finished marble now but I got hot and stopped for the day. Here's a hot shot for Attachment 90919
