hello , been lurking a long time , i am starting to get going on setting up a shop and try my hand at making some glass flow, so i figured i would finally introduce myself, i am 33 years old and from San Diego , i will be documenting my shop build from the ground up, as i have always taken pleasure in seeing everyones progression threads and figured i would add my own.
these are the tools i currently have , probably read these books a good three times each

slow down dude, practice with clear, ease-up on the inlines and heady rigs....you don't need a Viper bro, a little 7-jet torch will be fine for now. take some classes, buy contemporary lampworking and read them... wait wait wait...
WAIT!!! that was my usual routine for the noobs.... looks like you're headed the right direction and will make some great progress when the day comes. keep you head on straight (like you've got it) and maintain that humility and you'll go real far real fast.
We like you.

Keep doing what you are doing and you are going to do well with glassblowing.

Thank you all, even though the running shoes looked fancy I opted for the walking shoes , there is something to be said about enjoying the journey one step at a time

welcome
I laughed when I saw your pic, too. I am definitely still a noob. But your first package looks like mine. There are several REALLY good books out there that will help you. That lynx is the best of the best for starting out. I probably read those same books a million times before I even had a torch. A few other books to help you get started would be torchworked marbles by Drew Fritts (not sure if that title is exactly right, Mountain glass has all these books). It's an amazing book because it is very beginner friendly, and shows lots of surface work designs.(STUFF YOU CAN USE RIGHT AWAY)
I was a little frustrated as a noob with Contemporary Lampworking, because it felt like everything in there I could either use right away, or was years from using.
Borosillicate Pendants for flameworkers vol 1+2, as well as Marbles for Flameworkers vol 1. These are written by a member here as well (support TMP!). These books are awesome because they show you simple designs you can do as a noob. They also show you some of the first things you might be looking to learn (vortex, ect). They also show you a few basics like how to get a good cold seal, and how to make the dreaded loop. Worth the buy!
Glassblowing by Homer Hoyt. This is another fantastic book. It can be a little difficult to find, but I think mountain glass restocked it. The cool thing about this book is that it reads almost like contemporary lampworking. It explains the hows and the whys...but then it gives you step by step projects to complete. Its a great book!.
Good luck to you on your journey. Use chinese import clear (don't worry, it won't shock or shatter on you), and when you honestly cant take all the clear anymore, get a one ounce silver coin, and fume to your hearts content.
Thank you for the insight Mr. Porn ,i know where you are coming from on the contemporary lampworking books, i will definitely check out those other books you recommended ,
any information i can look through or find is a blessing since it will be a bit before i will be able to actually fire up my torch , I am eager to get started , but i'm sure the patience learned now will help once i do light that torch for the first time
These are books that really helped me out early on:

Definitely feeling welcome , thanks you all , those will be my next purchase for sure
does anyone have a set of these books that they would want to sell, all the authorized resellers are out of stock, and cosmoglass said he is no longer printing them as the cost was not effective, if not i will purchase the digital copies but would like to have a physical copy if possible seems it will be easier to follow while making something to use for reference
thank you in advance
i thought i saw Cosmo's books for sale at Mtn glass?

yeah they are out of stock , i wrote mtn glass they said they were not sure if they were coming back in, i emailed cosmoglass and they said , no more being printed at the moment they are searching for a more cost effective printer but nothing has panned out , but if anyone wants to pass their physical copies on to start anothers journey i'd be grateful , or i will get the digital versions
If printed isn't available, pick up the digital versions. Either way, the quicker you get them, the better. You can seriously make your money back for both books in about two hours.
true Icarus , figured I'd throw it out there first, gonna go ahead and get the digital versions and get to reading
thanks again
Hi Chaos, welcome again. The digital versions are actually harder for me to lose (loans not returned, etc.). Cosmo's explanations made sense and pics were easy to follow.
