So... All you carry now is US33? I really need clear but I'd rather pay shipping than have some of the issues i've heard with US33 Stock

We have some sizes in Schott, but until we fully stock up on US33 we will not be re supplying the entire line of Schott, but i can assure you the "problems" you have heard about are very rare occurances, as if you've never heard any problems with Schott before, the president of EU Glass created SBA and US33, we know all the issues.

I have never tried US33 myself so I may take you up on that challenge but I agree, I was not very satisfied with my Schott Either! If the case price isn't much different from the new Pyrex from Kavalier plant i've heard great things about you might be getting a order from me shortly!

So after reading a few threads and folks asking for fume info im going to give you all my tips on fuming. I have found that it is not necessary to heat the blank you are fuming. Maybe a quick flash but in no means do you want it to be around working temp when you lay your fume down. I've found the colder the better to be honest. When fuming avoid reduction at all costs. That means no reducing flame for fuming silver!! Unless you are going for a opaque cloudy fume silver should be applied with small pinpoint oxygen rich flame.

Use the smallest amount of metal on the rod as possible when fuming. Less is more in most circumstances unless your doing a Honeycomb. Gold is not much different. A small pin point flame but crank the oxygen on a bit more so the flame has a bit more driving force. It should have a slight hiss to it. ( I work on a premix so surface mix torches will be quieter and if it is hissing to loud you may have to much oxygen flowing, dial back a bit).

I have found holding the accepting fume blank is best held toward the back-wash of the flame. Holding it to close to the candles can result in heavy fume deposits so keep things toward the back. Think spray paint can when your fuming. If you hold its close to the object your painting the paint will be concentrated more in one area. Hold it farther back and the particles will disperse over the surface evenly.

I hope this helps those looking for more info into fuming silver and gold. Now I have gotta work on getting all this detail into something under an inch smile emoticon Oh and this implosion was done on US 33. Dont let anyone tell ya it doesn't fume good.

I saw that too! Thank you for posting it! Maybe some of those that want to talk down on a new product and or too scared to try it out will have more nerve now, especially with our pricing being better then SBA and Simax and because we offer free shipping, when we all know shipping is one of the largest costs for glass orders.

Personally, I always try everything out before I decide if I like it or not. We all work differently, we all have dif flame environments, work times and speeds, everything. It all matters. I don't fume a lot, but the small amount of US33 I've used so far has worked great for what I've used it for.

I don't want to hijack your thread, so just smack me upside the head if you want me to take these down. These are all made on US33.
