They don't NEED to be replaced. That's your interpretation, not what I said.

3 to 5 years is about what we see for most boro workers who want to "change up" to either a new filter or a different frame style. Sometimes it is because the existing filter is scratched up from normal wear and tear. Sometimes it is an upgrade to a darker filter because either their work has changed or new glass on the market is requiring them to work with a darker filter. When the silvered soft glass became widely available, we noticed a large number of soft glass workers changing from AUR-92 filters to AGW-203 filters because of the color flare from the silver in the glass.

It's got nothing to do with the frame itself, because under our warranty program if the frame breaks under normal usage, you get a new frame (or if that particular frame is no longer available, a new pair of spectacles).

It is similar to folks who wear prescription glasses for normal daily usage. Unless their prescription changes quickly, most people will get new glasses every two to three years.

We've been doing this since the early 1990's, and it is our experience that the average replacement period runs between 3 and 6 years. Your mileage may vary.

There is always gonna be a stigma surrounding Aura now as there always was, I say we let it rest as much as we can, and I think the Aura guys need to use there time more efficiently on the business end. That is stay off the boards in a defensive argumentitive way, we could do this shit for years. lets just let them do their thing and prove to us that they can do it right.

And personally, the price is fine with me, the lenses help my eyes the damn frames just suck, at least the goggle one.

There is no reason for the nose pad or those side pads to be falling off all the time. And a smoke/clear frame is just dumb as hell, cause the glare can penetrate the frame and blast my eyes. I know this doesnt happen to all, but it does to me, and that counts.

I know aura doesnt make the frames but damn maybe they can tweek them, glue the pads, and paint/coat the frames solid colors......

Nose pads for the most part are considered a user-replacement item. The only frames that have glued-on nose pads are the MX-30 (0601), the Offroad (0603) and the Torque (0602). The manufacturer of all 3 of the frames (Liberty Optical) has requested that all requests for replacement of the frames due to nose pad failure be directed to them so that they can make a determination of the problem. Personally, in the 7 months I've been doing the customer service job, not one of these frames has come back here for nose pad failure (of course, this means that tomorrow a bunch will come in LOL).

Different people will wear through nose pads at different rates. We can't control that. We stock replacement nose pads for the 9702 (Zoom) goggle. I think the current price is $8.75 a set. We also stock replacement nose pads for our standard spectacles, and those typically run about a dollar a set, but usually it is much faster to go to a local optician to have them replaced, they charge about the same amount, and you won't be without your glasses for more than an hour or so.

As far as painting frames, Mike and I have discussed this at length, but we've not arrived at a solution that is satisfactory. We don't get many complaints about it. That doesn't mean we aren't taking it seriously however. We just haven't found a satisfactory solution to the issue.

Guy, please explain why a pair of shade 5 welding lenses costs $10 in a cheap frame and AGW-325 found here: http://www.auralens.net/e_gw_agw325_5.cfm
is over $300 in a cheap frame. No really, I wanna know really bad how many grams of gold is in them.

There was a typo on the website that you didn't catch. Usually the computer catch's it on the transaction, but it was busy.

The reason is that our supplier dropped their price to us and we passed it on to our customers. We started buying in large quantities (100 + sets at a time) and that put us in a different quantity break column.

All I know is I love my Auras, and if it wasn't for the kid program that they put out, my son couldn't even be in the shop. So thanks Mike, and I'll definately buy more shades from you in the future.

If it works out well you, then by all means, please let us know. I think most of us can agree that the product is good.

We'd just like to see the customer experience not be on par with a root canal from an army dentist. Improvement would be a welcome tale

I eventually got my custom Oakleys from him a few months ago -- just months late after a bunch of blatant lies. I don't think he's evil -- just really, really bad at business.

Ya know, if he was just a user and not a seller (that sounds so seedy), he would be a great boon to the community, cause he does have a lot of helpful (if at times a bit hyperbolic) safety advice and knowledge that he was willing to share.
The most helpful bit of advice I've ever received:

2-3 months. I'd have to dig out the email thread to get it exact. It was a combination of a fake tracking number and bogus "server crash" that really steamed me.
