    Default Kato's work and progress

Sup everyone! The past few months I've been working hard at job #2 saving money and setting up my new home studio, and while its not totally finished I've gotten to the point where I can safely work I'm planning on building a hood and mounting the fan in the upper part of the window. Also I want to build a separate table for my kiln as I have found I would like to have the arm room.

    pics time!

some select work from the last few nights

    sections for a headie

Im also going to be doing the live glass webcam thing.

Looks like a sweet setup man! Love the black torch. Looks like you are working in a reducing flame a little, dunno if your meaning to do that or not tho. Anyways works lookin cool

lol, wasnt talking bout the torch picture. haha

You work has a lot of muddy colors is what i was talking about, that is from not burning off the haze on the piece. Use more oxy and you will get rid of that and show the true color. Thats what i meant and dont know if you wanted the muddy color or not. lol

Oh ha sorry DD that makes sense now. I just bought about 15 lbs of new colors and have been experimenting. i was wondering why the colors were so bland looking, thx for the tip ill be sure to turn up the oxy a bit!

I got super inspired to make some different glass late last night, here's what I just pulled out of the kiln.
    Big Spoon-
This one seems to have some of what I'm assuming is silver fume that just did not want to burn off at some places..any ideas?

    Turtle

    And...My first INLINE!
Its a little wonky here and there but it works great for the most part, and I learned a TON doing this little project.

    Thx for lookin!!

Looking good for less than a year in. One question though, why did you put your fan so low? Heat rises and you may have better luck moving it up, if you plan on building a hood.
    Keep it up.

    Nice work
For that spoon did you use english ivy? Because I've had similar colors like that come out from unencased and over reduced areas.

Btw on that piece did you coil pot or encase a tube w/ color and then clear?

    Thanks wieseatron!
Yup thats english ivy, and I was told by a friend that I may have just put too much silver fume on it, thus the fumy lines. Also, I used a piece of 25 and layed down the ivy on top, than clear dots.

thats a clever way to do an inline. just pull out a point and weld a tube around it. time saver
