I'm just concerned about there being a build up of warm toxic gases underneath your RV. If you don't direct them out from under it in a safe direction it's going to rise like warm air does and seep into potentially the living spaces of your RV. This is why I said you'd want atleast a 90 degree at the end of it to direct the gases out from under the RV.

The problem with venting down is that warm air rises (convection) and its going to float upwards under whole length-width of RV looking for a place to rise higher to escape that means whole underside of RV may be exposed to exhaust gasses.

Only real solution is to go through upper cabinet and straight up in "most traditional" sense of "stove hood" vent.

If you could get the wood sheet above you to slant toward the fan instead of away from it, that would help collect/direct the fumes towards the fan. You can see in the first video how the smoke bomb rolls back and shoots to the left (or towards your head if you were sitting, working) and the sheet directs the smoke away from where you want it.

The yellow bomb seems to be more accurate representation of how things would really be since it's stays pointed forward.

Keep in mind that with your torch running it will change things a little due to convection. I'd like to see this test with your torch running.

How far way is the stock vent fan from the wall in front of the workstation? I'm guessing it's in the middle, hints the sheet sloped to it. Looks like some of the smoke isn't being exhausted correctly due to turbulence caused by the bottom corner of the cabinet. That along with your fumes being pulled up and back over your head. Vent hoods, for the most part, have the intake in front of you
so there's a breeze to your back, sort of

Seems like either a hole and fan in front of you, under the cabinet, or removing the cabinets, installing a fan and having the hood/sheet sloping forward instead of behind you, are your best options IMHO

Not sure if I can find any smoke bombs this time of year but I'll try and give it a go.

hey turtle i have an rv too and will be mounting a roof vent into it. its a 24' winnebago class c. its awesome, i am traveling in it too right now but working outside or in other peoples shops so i can understand your frustration.

you have to vent out the side or the top, venting through the floor is the most work and not the best. when you take down the cabinet you will notice how it is attached to the side of your trailer. the screws holding the cabinet up are drilled into the studs, this is how you know where the studs are. cut where there aren't studs. a sawzall will be fine, jigsaw will give you better corners but take longer. you do not need to make a perfect cut because any windows you put into it later are going to have flanges that will cover things up, like trim.

    good luck

idk man i think makeup airflow is probably the way to go really... especially if you are just getting a littel bit of smoke coming out.. because you have to think of the flow... if there's negative pressure in the cabin, the smoke has no where to go but out... but the intake has to be more than the output.. and is probably best being low to the ground... and better if you/your torch are between the flow pattern from intake to output.. the fan being in the middle of the celing makes it interesting because i feel like even if you have enough airflow, it's still going to be pulling the vapor kinda up over your head, you'll still be breathing in the path of it and breath some in even if it does get all sucked out instantly, but that's not as bad as it building up more in the room..

This is the best advice for the easiest fix to your problem. Angle a plywood or metal sheet the oppisite way would be very similar to having a hood. The right angle would help channel/direct/force smoke and fumes away from you. I use this same concept in my shop.

MY ventilation works with all things I smoke even a fatty , I guess just smoke bombs are too much. I need a hood bottom line I think the cabinet will be gone and still vent out the same hole. Maybe new fan.

I remember my first test. Shop smelled like shit for the next day or so. Really sucked .

After the first bomb I decided to hold the second with a burnt kevlar glove to make sure it wouldn't fly around and mess up my bench. That solved the problem.

I set off 2 at once and vents cleared it out immediately. I'd consider upping your fan strength from the looks of the first video. It's close but a more legit fan will clear that smoke much more immediately.

I would of filmed mine if I had a go pro or something sick

Awesome for helping wagon, but this thread started two years ago, lol. Turtle has since gotten up to snuff, lol, and said so right above you in Feb 2011. Surprised the video link held up.
As a new poster here, try to keep an eye on the age of threads you search for or that are buried, lol.

    No harm no foul

So i add something useful to the thread, Sticking a smoke bomb in a 20 oz. bottle lid like a marble holder keeps it from rolling around on the bench.

I usually use the smoke from the burnt offerings, oxen that I offer to THE LORD.
