thx alot everyone. Stroker, Fizzle again thanks for the photo tips. I took the advice into consideration and did a little tinkering with a few things and got some pics I like. I found my camera seems to focus better with the flash activated. I've heard flash is a no no so I took a couple without as well. Tell me what you think and if you have any more pointers!

These are a few pieces that cracked on me..

as for the pics, well you already know about them.....

get a tripod and you will solve the focus issues.

as for lighting and background, that is next.

i have wrote the details out for a few others on here struggling to get a good pic and if you search you will find it is not that expensive to set yourself up to shoot high quality pics everytime.

tripod (with good adjustable head), graduated background, hot lights (i use lowel tota lights)

all the difference in the world. i cant wait to see your work under those conditions.
better just listen to stroker...he is a pulitzer prize winner.

Thanks fizzle, I tried the white background and it produced the same bluryness..About the flash, it somehow just seems to take sharper pics with it on..I'll keep at it and try the light setup you suggest. I am aware of the macro mode and have used it in all the photos. As well as a 2 second timer so I'm sure I'm not moving it. Thanks again for all the tips. I'd rep you more but I'm not allowed

sorry kato but this shit fizzle is telling you is fucked. since i am a know it all according to the fizmaster , well here goes.

you surely dont need 3 lights, just one positioned properly will work for 95% of all your shots.

    white backgrounds suck.
at the very least use photographic background paper that will not bounce the light back but instead absorb it.
if you cant get graduated (which you can on the bay for 30 bucks) then get grey as it helps keep the reflection down.
a white background is gonna throw the white ballance off on the camera settings which will in turn give a bad pic.
about the only thing fiz said that was worth listening too was the dont use a flash unless you had no other choice.
fizzle you are a little puffer.

for the most part your advice sucks, there i said it!!!

here is a typical 3 point lighting setup and some info on white balance if you are shooting manual...a white background will not throw off a white balance...hope this helps...
