The boxes are unpacked and the table is set for sorting.

Not anymore. Right now I have your pretty balls.

And your emoticon is deceiving there. I have 11 of them, not 2.

^ Here's a group shot. They look better in person of course. The skull is very clean. Hard to believe that was your first attempt at that type skull mib.

One of these days I'm gonna figure out the whole good picture thing. I've got a crappy little light box that just makes things look worse. And yes, I know, there are lots of threads with advice. Sigh. I just need to take the time to read and understand...

    Excellent, thanks a bunch!

And taking pictures is a huge learning curve, it only looks simple. It helps a lot if you have a DSLR because you can use the right lenses. Most P&S cameras are fairly limited in aperture settings, even at the "pro-sumer" level. A light box is useful, but it's just a tool, and I think it's importance is overrated a lot of times. It's just that you can make a light box for pennies, whereas a decent DSLR + a great lens will set you back a nice chunk of dough.

Having the right equipment and the know-how to use it yields spectacular results without a light box. The attached picture was taken on my kitchen counter top, on a 12"x12" piece of gray wool felt, on an overcast Florida day with no interior lights on. A light box would have probably not yielded the glare from the window, but... I can live with that for a quick shot

click the pic for a slightly larger version...

See you just demonstrated that (as with most things) it's the operator, not the equipment that matters most.

Your marbles are amazing but your pictures just don't do them justice. (see above for my whinging on the topic of poor pics of my own stuff)

OK folks. The marbles have been sorted and assigned their new homes. Re-wrapping them and packaging for shipping will have to wait for another day. I need a drink, a nap or both. Thanks go to Lysa and Cheri for helping make sure the trades were as even as possible and that (hopefully) no one got back their own marble or more than one from any other artist.

Brad, Mark, and Waffles; since it is unlikely that all of the boxes will be mailed by Monday I'll do my best to do at least a partial swap for you if your marbles get here by then.

Here's what the table looks like after shuffling:

Cool, Lysa, I'll treasure them forever! (Actually, I will). Thank you all for your hard work making them and sorting through them all (I would have gotten SO confused)! Can't wait to see them.

Seeing them all out on the table like that is furthermore exciting. Even retroactively grafted upon my previous excitement. I can even pick out my little green boxes about to be off towards their new homes. Goodbye, my little creations! I hope your new owners are as happy staring at you as I was making you! Ahhh, the anticipation is killing me.

    Hey y'all,

I had a dream. I had a package that I had opened up and inside were the exchange marbles. It was so real. It was like opening a long awaited for package that contains marbles...

Seriously, I did have the dream. So I guess I'm saying that I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the marbles from you guys. Just thought I would share a moment, hope y'all feel the same.

Do you know why the felt on a pool table is green?

If you had 16 balls, you'd be green too!
