Default GTT Lynx (or Cheetah) lightly used or new

    Hi all,

New lampworker here, building my first home studio. I'm hoping someone who's bumped up to a bigger torch might be willing to let their Lynx go for a reasonable price (or, gasp - there might be a Cheetah out there somewhere, I'd take it!)

I'd use paypal, cover all fees and shipping to Baltimore, MD

So far GTT hasn't even been replying to my emails so I figure this is my best bet of getting one before the end of 2013!

    Thanks in advance!

You could call gtt or glass suppliers. Lynxs aren't hard to find, and you probably won't get much of a deal on a used one. If you're in Cali, you might want to check out artco. They might even have a cheetah?

I'm on the East Coast so I've mainly been checking Philly and NYC craigslist - GTT hasn't been responding to emails but I might give them a call on my lunch break - someone else just told me his took 6 months to arrive new from them

yeah, it may take a few weeks, it may take a few months. depends where GTT is at in their production. Best thing to do is call GTT and get on their list, and call a bunch of distrubutors too, like ABR, Artco, MGA, Glasscraft, CNY, etc and see if they've got lists you can get on too. Also, keep an eye out on this forum, on a couple facebook groups, and ebay/craigslist. You never know when a good condition, used Lynx will go up for sale, and they always sell fast.

    good luck!

Any torch from GTT sells fast. A good deal only means your going to get it now. If you're looking to save money off retail, it's not likely..

But, on the plus side, whenever you want to upgrade your torch, you can sell GTT's used for damn near retail price.

Well, I heard back from GTT today and the wait time for a Cheetah is supposed to be the end of October but so many of you have told me that won't be honored and GTT still hasn't sent me the order confirmation, I'm going to assume it would be late. I also asked for the time estimate for a Lynx, no news back yet.

So, I'm on the GTT list (yet to even get my order confirmation) and also added to the Mountain Glass waiting list (Justin @ Mountain Glass has been a nice guy to work with - trying to talk me into a RedMax with premix top but I just don't want to give in yet!)

I Got an order conformation right away with mine...Was told 2months...then at the end of that was told 1 more month...then "2 more weeks" every 2 weeks for a grand total of over 6.5months!! The small ones are usually kept in stock at a lot of the resale places...If your on the East Coast then call Mountain Glass Arts or one of the other companies over there. Then after calling to make sure they have one go pick it up or get it shipped to you for fairly cheep...The small triple Mixes like the lynx are in stock quite often seems like(at least compared to their big bros)...as they get bigger they are harder to come upon but also seems like the Cheetah is just small enough and the lynx is just popular enough that the cheetah stays stocked at a decent amount of places too... Might as well put your name on any list you can, then take the first one offered...Even if you find a lightly used one to buy meanwhile...Then just try to save up for when that new one comes and buy it and sell the used one...or you could just put that new one on a credit card(if you feel comfortable enough at the time) because i guarantee you will be able to sell the used one being a triple mix by the time your credit card bill statement comes...and that extra shipping paid is well worth the "rental" on the used one...OR Just Call/PM Me & Ill Send You Out A Nortel MegaMax Combo (RedMax w/MegaMinor on Top) with a torch mounted marver w/only 4-5hrs on the RedMax & under 70hr on The Mega Minor...Pretty Much New &Three times As Big For The Same Price... I Just Spent Way To Much Money @ABR A Couple Hrs Ago & Was Thinking About Posting It Hear Tomorrow...Good Luck Brotha!(or sista...whichever may apply)

Hey thanks Klaw, I haven't even come close to feeling that kinda pain yet lol

As of yesterday, Pam at GTT had confirmed Lynx/Cheetah delivery times for end of October. Both times she said she was sending an order form but neither has shown yet so who knows which I'll get first (both form and torch). I'm also already on the list at Mountain and ABR - they are all waiting for restock too. Still no luck with used yet but I'm crossing my fingers.

I keep getting frustrated and want to just say "f*ck it" and get a redmax+premix but it's too big/oxy-hoggin for my needs I think. I don't want to make anything bigger than maybe a 6" minitube or small recyclers... plus if I ever want to covert to oxycons and/or a natural gas booster, I like that I have the flexibility with the Lynx.

I'm open to other ideas but in the meantime... twiddling my thumbs....

Definitely worth the wait. I had the same issues with regards to my order. I will say it doesn't hurt to give her a call and check up every few weeks around the time she told you to expect it. Also doesn't hurt to let them know you have the funds available and are ready to pay whenever they would like to process it. I called up randomly to let them know that and I had a Mirage shipped out to me the same day. Not saying this is the norm, just my personal experience.

Like recommended above, Call around to the distributors to see if there is one available. I was having a hard time locating one too and didn't wanna wait a long time, After some searching, I found one at Artco (http://www.artcoinc.com)

Make sure to call the distributors though because a lot of times the website wont reflect if they actually have it in stock or not...

    Good Luck! You'll love it!
