Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi there, my name is Robert Reeder, I have been learning lampworking for the last four years, and I really enjoy it! I live in Ravenna, Ohio and I am completely self-taught and this forum is a great resource for someone like me! I have already found quite a few useful nuggets of info in just a brief scanning of the tutorials and stuff! I got a late start in life to pick this up, I am 47 years old, I hope to keep doing it until I can't anymore. I am also a full-time construction worker, with winters off, so when asphalt finally cripples me, I hope to have lampworking to fall back on!

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hi all I'm Nash or napglass ,from Volcano on the big island of Hawaii. Been working glass almost two years now thought I'd post up here after lurking on this site for what seems to be forever. This awesome forum and glass pipes.Org got me into glass then took a hotshop class at university which led me to drop out, build my own studio and start working full time behind the torch. Thanks to tmp for all the knowledge and assistance throughout.

What's up guys, I am Just Another Benavidez , I go by JAB. I am from New Mexico, been melting full time for exactly one year this month. Took my first class in 2012. I am learning from Magma Glass and Cooper Soulfate. I always loved glass and one day my buddy took me to a Boro-Battle and from that day on I was hooked. Good to finally start getting active on the forum.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello all.
Im in PA and am a total Newbie to torch working.
I bought everything I need to start playing around with glass and have no ability at all.
I am still waiting for the Glass Studio closest to where I live to open..was to be march but now its getting pushed out further. Until when I do not know.
I have tried on my own with no lessons or help and have gotten so frustrated at making poor globs of glass That I am not touching it again Until I can get some lessons so as to not spoil it for me.
Watching on You tube has not helped much.
I will look through some of the videos on here to see if it helps any.
I have come to the conclusion that my biggest problem may be my torch (and lack of learning on it).
Its a National 6b Bench premix with an htc-1 tip.
I believe I would like to get a GTT Lynx or Carlisle Wildcat.
With either I will have to get a second Oxygen to get me to 10LPM instead of the 5 I have now.
But I have heard they are very forgiving for the newb.

Re: Rollcall
Hi, gonna go by mulberry here for privacy's sake. About to be 22 in about 2 days. Have a little experience on the torch from a guy in Kent from a few years back(pretty sure he's on this site considering he's the one who told me it exists, however I have no idea of the username), its been awhile since I've been on the torch but I've had glass fever since I was a kid. Working on building my own setup as soon as possible but am going to do my research until I can.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello all,
I'm James, been on the torch fulltime since last april. Started in Denver now I'm in Richmond Va. I'm a pipemaker use to work through a couple production studios now I'm self employed and business is good. That said I still have less then a year under my belt and still have much to learn. In particular I would like to talk to other pipemakers who use Carlisle torches. I'm struggling to get the striking right for large encasement pieces.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
Hello, glassy folks!
New here, have no equipment, yet, but have been eating up tutorials, techniques, and trying to wrap my head around the best equipment to purchase (down the line). Please send any pointers, videos, and tell me how to keep my sanity while I'm dreaming of playing with glass but have no supplies.
I'm in Central NY, and it seems there are very few in the area that do this kind of work, so I'm stumped as to where to go to get my feet wet (or, yaknow, burn my feet off, whatever is more appropo). My family and I are trying to relocate, though, so hopefully I will be in a place where there are more glass fiends!
If anyone is in CNY and is willing to let me stare over your shoulder for a few hours and ask you some questions, I would happily pay you in giant cookies and beer.

Re: Rollcall - introduce yourself!
I'm new-SURPRISE! However I've been a member here for months and have only read, read and kept reading in an attempt to ride out the highest arc of the learning curve by applying what I've learned from the wealth of knowledge and experience available from the seasoned here. I respect the time and skills of those who gather here to connect and selflessly give their advice, opinions, and encouragement to those of us trying to keep on keeping it on. I will not disrespect your gifts by expecting you great people to answer simple questions that have already been given time AND answered as though I were to good to simply put MY time into it I've been salivating to get behind a torch for almost a decade, and well this dog has gotten her day!! The space, price, locale, ect....of where I have been able secure to set up my studio is my gift from the glass Gods for my wait. My shop is 30x90,w/ 30 ft ceilings, and a nice big 25 ft roll up bay in the back and the only people torching in,or working out of my shop are me, myself, and I. WORTH THE WAIT!
