Cased glass

Covering a glass with another color glass either by dipping to gather glass over it, or by blowing a parison a prepared cup of different colored glass. It was used by the Romans, an example, Portland Vase, the Bohemians and English of the mid 19th century, and later in the United States. With reference to paperweights, casing creates a windows to view the center. Also known as Overlay Glass.
